Still in the hospital

Well, we just got back from visiting Oscar and Arlen at the hospital – they are still unable to leave! Poor Arlen has been there since Wednesday and she is only able to go in and see Sidney every three hours for an hour (so she is with her one hour, without her two). During the two in between hours, she sits outside on a cement bench. At night, she tries to sleep during her two hour breaks, although it can be dangerous, and the rain can be rather unfriendly (last night it rained for several hours before bed, rained all night long, and was still raining when we woke up!) Needless to say, Arlen is exhausted. I don’t know if she has slept in a week. She is consistently either tearing up or on the verge of tears. She is still in pain from having a baby a little over a week ago and she desperately misses her other three babies at home (And they are aching to have her home as well!). She keeps being told that they can go home “tomorrow”. I can’t imagine. My heart breaks for her.

Sidney is okay, we think, but we don’t really know. She seems to be done with the pneumonia, but she seems to be exhausted all the time. She had some bloodwork done today and they will get the results at 8:00 tonight. She also had an x-ray. The unknown can be so scary. Arlen called today and when I asked her how she was doing, she said bad. She was crying. But I could hear in her voice that she was trying to be strong. I feared the worst and prayed that God would protect sweet Sidney’s life. I want to be able to say with confidence that everything will be okay. But really, I have no idea and I’m scared too. I do know that God is faithful, that He cares for us, that He has a plan, and that He is in control. But I don’t know what He has in store for Sidney Kathleen. I can only hope and pray that it is great things. Things here on earth. Will you join me in asking the Lord for these things?

- Wisdom for the doctors in knowing what is wrong with Sidney

- Spiritual rest and peace for Arlen. Comfort from her Father.

- God’s protection over Sidney’s life

- Wisdom for Oscar and Arlen’s mom (who came in town yesterday to help) in caring for the family while Arlen is at the hospital

- Provision to meet all their needs. They have food at home for the kids, but Arlen cannot eat the food they sell outside the hospital, as it is all fried and lacking in any nutritional value. Thus, the food she needs to eat is far away and much more expensive. Yesterday, all she had was water all day.
