San Juan del Sur

IMG_8166This summer has been pretty slow (a.k.a. lonely) around here, since many people we know went to the States for the summer, but we did get the opportunity for a short vacation with our friends, the Crabtrees. We stayed in a villa in San Juan del Sur (where Survivor Nicaragua was filmed!), and because of some misunderstandings/the unreliability of “fax” machines, we were upgraded (free of additional charge) to a villa with central air conditioning, something that is almost unheard of in most Nicaraguan homes!

IMG_8182We drove/hiked to the top of the hill (or actually, mountain) to admire the beautiful shoreline of San Juan del Sur.

This is Chase being cooperative with my requests for pictures. I won’t show you all the pictures where he stopped being so cooperative…there were a variety of faces made in those photos, though none of them were smiles.

We enjoyed delicious food (including Russell nachos), played some fun games, watched some bizarre television shows, read some books, relaxed in a unique coffee shop, and of course, went to the beach. We had a great time, so much so that when we got back to Managua, we weren’t done hanging out. After unpacking, the Crabtrees came over for pizza and a movie to finish off our vacation weekend together!
